These great flush cutters will cut up to 12 gauge dead soft sterling wire. When you look at a flush cutter with the jaws closed, you will notice that one side of the jaw forms a "V" and the other side forms a flush cutting surface. If you hold the "V" facing the cut you are about to make, the end of the wire will have a beveled end. If you hold the flush surface facing the wire, it will cut straight.
